There Is Only So Much Heartache A City Can Take

Typhoon Haiyan hit the eastern city of Tacloban, Philippines just a couple of days ago and the devastation can be felt all the way to Singapore.

I don’t need to say how many Filipino friends I have but the main reason why I’m writing this post is simple: We need to help these people who have been affected. We need to help them rebuild their lives but most importantly, they need to know that there is always hope after this terrible tragedy.

One of my closest girlfriend’s uncle was just one of the 10,000 people who have passed on due to this typhoon. Her family have been sending relief goods to the affected area. Looting and killings are on the rise since people barely have enough to eat and live. They needed the army to escort them. I just thank God that her dad is a judge thus making their journey to Tacloban City easier.

My office and I have managed to raise money to be given to my girlfriend so that her family will be able to buy more physical goods. Right now, they need:
(1) Food (canned goods, biscuits)
(2) Water (small bottles, preferably)
(3) Clothes
(4) Blankets
(5) Slippers
(6) Medicines, Vitamins
(7) Baby Wipes, Isopropyl Alcohol
(8) Tents
(9) Garbage Disposal Bags (large, preferably)

If you’re in Singapore, you may drop them off at
LBC (LUCKY PLAZA BRANCH)
03-46 Lucky Plaza,
304 Orchard Road, Singapore

Alternatively, please donate generously to the Singapore Red Cross.
If you’re overseas and want to help, please choose from the various organisations.

Your help goes a long way.
